In 1999, God pointed to me a mission of creating a community of leaders who will be instrumental in building a humane society. I followed God’s leading one small step at a time without completely knowing how grand this plan would be.
In 2017, He showed me the vision of a building that will develop students with the intelligences in music and the arts to tell a story through the performing arts. I know as an educator that the arts is a powerful tool to tell a story, but I wondered what story should we be making.
Then, in December 2018, while vacationing in Cambodia with the family, God showed me what story He wants me to reach to nations – and He revealed that it would be the story of His great Love to all people. Thus, the inception of the unique production of Handel’s Messiah.
The Messiah is a unique experience because it will be using George Frideric Handel’s oratorio, a masterpiece written in 1741; but the oratorio will be interpreted through performing arts where dance, opera, orchestra , and visual arts are interwoven to tell the story of our Messiah.
As I feel humbled to be given this task to share the beautiful story of God’s everlasting love for humanity, I am confidently trusting that I am just an instrument and that He will be the overall producer. In fact, the professional companies and the people working for the whole production were personally handpicked by Him.
I was given a preview of how it would be told while my family and I were watching a show in Phnom Penh; but what was truly amazing was when He showed me who are to perform in that show when I was invited by a good friend to a fund raising event in UP Los Banos where ACTS Manila, UP Los Banos Choral and Harmoniya performed together for the first time. It was so surreal, but I knew in my heart that God was directing my path.
Whether you are here watching the show or partnering with us, you too are handpicked. You are part of His great plan for the vision of bringing The Messiah to the nations. I hope and pray that whatever God purposed for you, you will hear His voice. As it is written in Hebrews 3:7: Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.”
